.. on the flip side [May. 24th, 2004|12:16 am]
Pickings are going to be slim here for a bit, I'm moving on to a bigger and (hopefully) much better site.... movable type, here I come!!! So I'll try to get that up soon... what's the new address??? Well, it's a work in progress, so unless you care so much about seeing it that you can guess it from the clue, you must not want it that badly.

"Welll, somebody has a case of the ... "(www.------------------(.com)"....

Good luck.

News: I just got back from the funnest bachelorette party ever. It was all of the girls from BBW... I laughed more than I've ever laughed before, learned all sorts of crazy secrets my coworkers have been keeping (we played I've never...) and had all kinds of fun... Huzzah!

Bed time for me....
Tomorrow involves removing toenails, editing pictures, and getting technological on my new website's ass.

It's getting there... [May. 14th, 2004|09:57 am]
Well this week was a bit better than last... grades are in and they're... acceptable. I did well in my moralðics, psychology of religion, and psychology of the normal personality class, however I did poorly (as expected) in sociology 401 (modern sociological theory)... but I passed!!! This class kicked my ass. The professor was sooooo tough... on our 20-ish page paper final she spends anywhere from 2-7 hours a page. I guess that's what I get for taking a senior level course as a sophomore... I think I've leanred my lesson.

Thank you (!!!!), Becky, for the wonderful advice about treating myself (and for checking to see how I was... you're so sweet!)... I definitely took your advice... this week I am the proud owner of 2 gorgeous necklaces and 2 pairs of earrings from express, a hoodie, pair of super cute sweatpants, pair of shorts, and tanktop from express, and four lovely brightly colored layering tanks from gap... oh, and 3 henri bendel candles, a fig body scrub and body cream, sunblock for my face, more shampoo and conditioner, more tomato face scrub, more rice face cleanser, from bath and body works.

I also bought a really cute craft kit from Hobby Lobby... I desperately needed some crafty instant gratification... the DMC Linea kits are sooo gorgeous... I was drooling over the pillowcases but I ended up with a cute coin pouch with an embroidered japanese-looking tree thing :)

Rolando has spent a large part of the week working on getting me movable type... however I think it's not going very well... any advice?

Concerning Bath and Body Works... I love my job to death, but I think it might be time to move on. I've been working there a year... everyone is super nice, I love everything there... and the discount is nice too... but one of the managers moved away, leaving a position open. None of the associates were informed of this... and they just went ahead and picked this girl... sigh... who's only been working there for like 5 months. Sigh. I trained the girl who trained this girl. What is going on. Some background information: EVERYONE I work with loves me, I'm really good at what I do, I have an awesome attitude at work... I think the part that screwed me over is that I'm only 19. The other girl is 22 but I think I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay better than she is. Sigh. So now this girl gets to work more than 5 times more than me, and gets paid twice as much... she's already started bossing me around.... "Amy, go empty the garbages and get more bags," etc.... I know this crap already! Sigh. I hope nobody I work with reads this because I would hate getting in trouble for this (Dooce-style) but I've ranted and cried enough about this to Rolando and my mom so now I need a new audience!

All in all, it's been an alright week, next week will be relaxing, I only work 20 hours, so I'll have plenty of Amy time!

The plan for today is to head back home and garden all day... and possibly see Troy tonight... (eeee!) Leave me some love!

WHAT NEXT?!? [May. 6th, 2004|03:00 pm]
[mood | frustrated]
[music |You are my passion for life!]

So I reall ought to be rejoicing, tomorrow is my last final, then I'm off for the summer, however today I'm finding very little to rejoice about.

I turned in my paper today. It was due Monday. Today is Thursday. I'm in some deep shit. I worked really hard on this paper, it just wouldn't end. I had an exam today, it went well, but it was still stressful... my stomache hurts, I have cramps, and a headache. I had a study group with a guy that went to my high school... it was extremely awkward and unsuccessful. This weekend is going to be hell... Here's a tentative schedule:
tonight:
4:00-10:00 study for my last final

Friday
6:00 a.m. wake up, study
7:30-8:30 take exam
8:30-4:30 work at bath and body works
4:30-5:30 drive home
5:30-6:00 price my stuff for my parents' garage sale
6:00-9:00 manning the garage sale
9:00-1:00 quality time with my guy

Saturday
7:00 a.m. wake up, get ready
8:00-3:30 work at Rolando's grocery store
3:30-4:30 drive back to Ames
4:30-9:30 work at bath and body works
9:30-10:30 drive home again
10:30-1:00 quality time with my guy

Sunday
7:00 a.m. wake up, get ready
8:00-4:00 work at Rolando's grocery store
4:00-5:00 drive back to Ames again
5:00-12:00 work at bath and body works

I'm not sure if I'll make it... sigh. I think I'd better catch up on some sleep tonight because I'm not going to get much for a few days...

Sigh. I need to change my brake pads... my car is squueeeeeealing and people look at me funny when I drive by because I'm so noisy.... and my air conditioner is broken and my windshield wipers are broken and my rear view mirror fell off... sigh... what next?!?

I keep thinking about the few hundred I'm going to have to fork out on my piece of shit car... and all the things I could have gotten with that money.... new shoes, new clothes... yarn! Sigh... I think I might take a long bubble bath, and a nap... that always makes me feel better....

woopty-woop! [Apr. 30th, 2004|11:46 am]
[mood | working]

Well, yesterday I was going to post a long "feel sorry for me" post, however I felt something more productive would be a better use of my time. So I slept. Today I'm glad I didn't waste my time whining because today is a better day and makes for a much happier post.

I got another package from my darling secret knitting pal! It was so cute... and the PERFECT size for my crazy mail carrier to stick in my mailbox (so he didn't have any opportunity for it to be "stolen!") So inside was a sweet note, a cute KNIT bumper sticker, a fun little toy Koi (which I watched swim around in my sink for like 10 minutes until Rolando dragged me away from the bathroom and made me start writing my paper again)and a kit with some adorable orange office supplies. This package made my day... the main reason is this:

I have a 20 page paper due on Monday morning at 8:30. I meant to start earlier, but I just developed a KILLER head cold and wasn't able to think rationally until this morning... well, maybe I'm only half way there... but anyway, so I'm starting on the paper. It wouldn't be a problem if this weekend were wide open, but of course that's not the case... I already worked about 20 hours on top of school during the week, and now on Saturday and Sunday I work 16 hours. Not to mention, a few hours of traveling time, required visiting with my parents and darling Stewart, some sort of night-long activity with Rolando on Saturday... (maybe dinner and a movie?) and a study group on Sunday night for my psychology of religion exam on Monday morning at 7:30 am. So this leaves this afternoon and about 1 hour on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday to concoct this sucker. The koi is my muse. He is sitting by my computer, giving me inspiration to write about a myriad of sociological theories, and I keep finding things that I "need" to staple or hole punch which are somehow keeping me amused. Lol...

Oh, and on top of all of this I need to mail a package to my SKP, return a book to the library (I already have a $10 late fee on this book), buy Rolando's mom some shoes from American Eagle, and study for 3 finals.

Sigh. After next week's finals I'll be able to post a fun, long, happy, picture-heavy post

Thanks again SKP!

carbo-crazy [Apr. 26th, 2004|10:00 pm]
I could not do the Atkins diet. Seriously, I'd fail miserably.... here's what I ate today:

bowl of cereal
3 cookies
baked spaghetti parmesan
2 breadsticks
pop

How disgustingly unhealthy is that? I need to work on limiting that crap... maybe eat an apple or something every now and again...

I am trying to better myself though. I bought a workout DVD today... the newest one by Cindy Crawford... it's kind of for women who just had babies, but it's good for everyone... there are 3 workouts... slow (10 minutes), moderate (15 minutes), and intense (40 minutes)... I tried workout A before work, it's nice because although it's not high-impact, it reallllly targets the muscles, so you still feel like you did something.
I also got some of the new Crest White Strips (the advanced 1 week kind) and it came with a free spin brush and toothpaste... score!! So I'll be whitening my teeth while I excercise with Cindy...

Anyway, I think I'm going to try workout B now... drop me some love!!

Who IS Baby Names? [Apr. 21st, 2004|10:05 am]
[mood | hungry]

I have to say, I heart amazon. I emailed them about my missing-in-action knitting books, and they came through. I promptly received a reply, in which they told me that my books were being re-shipped (free of charge) via UPS this time... :0) They arrived at my door on Monday, and I couldn't be happier. I started to make the stuffed fox-terrier for the zoo-along (hosted by the knitlette and kitten avec whip!, but I picked up super skinny yarn, and I needed chunky for this, so I'm going to use it up by first making the bunny... it's not nearly as cute, but it's much easier!

Did everyone see me on CNN last weekend in the broadcast about the riots at Iowa State?? No, I fib. I wasn't really there, I was really knitting and sleeping through the whole fiasco. I swear, I go to school with a bunch of dumbasses. Sigh. Now they're selling shirts that say "VEISHA '04... what a riot!" Here's an article about the whole situation.

Sorry not much knitting news to post, I haven't made a whole lot of progress lately, besides on sleeve #1 of the stripey summer sweater (sss) from Vogue Knitting. I really need to get on the mom-shawl thing, her birthday is May 20th and I'm not getting very far on it at all. Finals are coming up. I just realized yesterday that next week is dead week and the week after that is finals week. This is the last week of class. Why didn't anybody tell me this?? I was completely oblivious. This is good, and bad. Good because I'm ready for summer. Bad because I have a 20 page paper to write in about a week... I had completely forgotten. Sigh. Also, bad because I really want to visit my best friend in Evanston, Illinois, but I haven't been planning ahead, so I don't have thaaaat much money. I suppose I could dip into the $600 vacation fund my parents gave me, but I was hoping to save most of it for Mexico with Rolando later this summer. What's a girl to do?!?!

Just something really random: the other morning, Rolando was checking out the most searched things on Yahoo! Some of which were: Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Baby Names. Rolando was like... "Who's Baby Names?" It was the cutest thing ever. So he searched for baby names... and realized that it wasn't a rapper, and it was hella cute. We're in the computer lab right now... and he just said, "Mozilla, mo' problems." How cute is he?!?!

To my Knitting Secret Pal (if she reads this! :) I did get a package in the mail a while back, I'm not sure if you read my message, in reply to your post earlier, but I did get the box w/ the book, magazine, crazy cool pen, etc. I looooved them! I think that the postal service will be safe from now on, because I gave them a good talking to... but UPS works too... whichever is easier for you!!! Thank you so much for the thoughtful gifts!

Simple Stripes [Apr. 14th, 2004|10:58 am]
[mood | infuriated]

Well, progress on frenchie is at a halt... I broke my needles. So until I make it to hobby lobby, it's chilling on my sofa.

Not much on my mom's stole either... I really have to get on it... the deadline is May 20th... only about a month away, but mother's day week is hella busy at work, and finals are coming up too, which will suck up much of my time.

I may not have mentioned this, but I'm also making a really pretty cellphone cosy for my best friend Elisabeth, whose birthday is in: !! 5 days !! Anyway, it's w/ some really nice handpainted yarn... it's mohair & wool... it's black. Very cute.

Also, I started the simple stripes sweater from the new Vogue Knitting mag... but instead of pink stripes, it's light blue. I think it's purdy. I'm almost done with sleeve #1, and I only started 2 days ago! I'm proud of myself, b/c I'm a really slow knitter, this is good progress for me.

Still no signs of the books. The status of my order on Amazon was "delivered". This is not a good sign. So I call the USPS and ask what I can do to get my books! I'm poor, and I shelled out about $30 for these, and that's a lot of money for someone like me... so anyway, I'm supposed to hear back from them today or tomorrow, but seriously, I really doubt I'll ever get them. The lady said that if the status was "delivered", somebody received them. Sigh. What's a girl to do?

Okay seriously, this is ridiculous. The phone just rang. It was the post office. They were like, well, looks like it was stolen. Guess there's nothing we can do about it. They told me "looks like you're S.O.L." I'm not making that up. He seriously told me that. I know I'm over-reacting, but I am majorly upset. I'm going to go take a nap.

What the... [Apr. 7th, 2004|10:20 pm]
[mood | infuriated]

Yeah... a week after the expected arrival date and still no books... WTF? Seriously... I'm starting to get really peeved. It's been at the post office A HALF HOUR AWAY for for more than 10 days. I started hypothesizing about why it could possibly be taking so long.. here are a few of my theories:

Theory 1) There's a medium-sized locker for mail by our apartment's mailboxes in which medium-sized packages are stored when they wont' fit in the teeny regular ones... so anyhow, if someone is hoarding the box and not taking whatever package they might have received, no other packages can replace the first. For a few days now, the box has been in use, then emptied, then the next day filled again, then emptied, and so on... I figured that maybe my package was in line... and that when its turn came there it would be... however today the box was EMPTY. Nobody else received a package that would delay mine. So WHERE THE HELL IS It?

Theory 2) I thought about waving to a random mailman the other day as I was driving, because... well, maybe he somehow would know me and make a point to find out if I had any packages waiting for me... but I didn't wave... and he's punishing me.

Theory 3) A lady came in to bath and body works once. She was hella weird and she told me her husband worked for the post office. I told her she should get him some SPF 15 for his face, as he's outside a lot... and the UVA is good to protect against aging and whatnot. She brought him in about a month later, and I remembered her (she was reallyweird.) So I approached them and said "So you're the postman?" He scowled at me and said.... "MAAAILMAN. Apparently "postman" is offensive. Anyhow, I think he was so insulted that I refered to him as a postman, that he is making my postal-life a living hell.

Those are the only 3 theories I have now... but I'm sure there will be more, as the lack of these 2 books are all I can think about. Normally I wouldn't be so impatient, but I really want to start my stuffed animal for the Zoo-Along!!!! </a> hosted by Leya and The Knitlette. The stuffed animal I'm going to attempt is from Simple Knits for Little Cherubs...if you click the link, then the book, it will pop up with a few pictures... I'm making the puppy... and I think I'm going to adjust the yarn so I can make it look like Stewart! Would that be precious or what?

Anyway, say a prayer for me that tomorrow I will have 2 lovely books waiting in the previously-mentioned medium-sized locker.

addition:
I think it's necessary for me to insert my list of 5 favorite cereals:

1)cookie crisp
2)reese's puffs
3)cinnamon toast crunch
4)trix
5)frosted shredded wheat

and Rolando's:
1)trix
2)reese's puffs
3)cookie crisp
4)apple jacks
5)he doesn't know

I just really pissed off Rolando by nagging and nagging to try to get #5. if I listed 5, he ought to as well. He went "Harumph. I JUST HAVE FOUR. I DONT HAVE A FIVE." Lol... it's really sad when you can get in an argument about the ranking of cereal.

no wrong way to knit? [Apr. 4th, 2004|02:05 pm]
People have said there's no wrong way to knit. They were wrong. I proved it... there is a wrong way to knit, and I do it. I found this out on Friday from the owner of my LYS... she was teaching me how to pick up stitches... she broke it to me gently... I twist all my stitches. I had no idea I was doing it. It all made sense... no wonder my frenchie is ridiculously smaller than it should be.
The good news is now that I know, I can fix it!

Haven't made a whole lot of progress on classy eyelet stole, but possibly this week?!?

I ordered 2 books from Amazon... they were supposed to arrive either Wednesday or Thursday... Uhh, it's Sunday and they haven't arrived. I'm soo annoyed. They arrived in Des Moines (about a 1/2 hour away) on the 26th... does it really take 10 days to travel a half hour? Seriously. But I have my fingers crossed that tomorrow those books will be waiting for me!

Vintage Knits is one of the books I got... I know I'm going to knit the lacy camisole pictured on the front... and I'm sure there will be a gazillion more must-haves!

I also got Simple Knits for Little Cherubs because my old manager from BBW (old as in she used to be my manager, not old as in aged... :0) is having a baby! I'm sooo excited for her, because she has been trying I think for about 10 years or so... it's a miracle baby! So anyhow, I want to knit her something very special for her baby.

What else is new... hmmm... Oh! On Thursday I went to welcome my cousin Stephanie home!!! She's in the Army and was in Iraq for quite a while... so we went to see the ceremony and visited with family and whatnot... it was pretty fun. I'll try to post some pictures of it later.

"Can I get a HELL YES?!?!" [Mar. 20th, 2004|05:03 pm]
[mood | ecstatic]
[music |watching: Old Yeller]

I wish I had more time to knit this spring break... sigh... however, I did get a new battery for my camera... so this post is LOADED with pictures! Hoorah! First, some pictures of progress on random projects:

Mom's Eyelet Stole: I like it. The yarn is super soft, but the problem is I get distracted easily and then I mess up and I hate ripping out... it seems like I waste so much time re-doing stuff... sigh... I'm not good enough at knitting to mindlessly knit... it's getting better though. Sigh... the sides are all curled... anyhow, I really think my mom will be tickled by this stole.

The French Market Bag is slowly getting there... here's the progress so far... I'm almost done with the bottom. My goal was to finish the bottom completely by the end of the week, and tonight is devoted completely to accomplishing this goal.
Other random projects in progress:
1. secret present for secret knitting pal
2. sandy heather beaded case for my digital camera
3. q-tip mittens to go with finished q-tip hat
That's the knitting news for now... now some other stuff:

I used to work at a place called Mainstream Living, where I worked with people who have disabilities. The house in which I worked had four disabled persons, one of which was a 40 year old woman who always would yell, "Can I get a HELL YES?!?" She was awesome. I miss her.

Wondering where I'm going with this? I did a bit of shopping this weekend... and all of my spectacular bargains made me feel like yelling that. Aeropostale blessed me with a nice new pair of khaki pants, and a super cute white/baby blue hoodie... (each a steal at $15!) Next was... you guessed it... Bath and Body Works. This store gets its own paragraph.

Let me start by saying: I do not need ANYTHING from Bath and Body Works. I have more body care and home fragrance products than I'll ever be able to use. Seriously, it's ridiculous. Just to prove it, here's a picture of my shower. Those are all of the open shower products I have... there's more though. Here's a picture of my loverly pottery barn cabinet in the bathroom which holds more (but not all...) of my Bath and Body Works stuff... oh, and then there's the big pile of stuff for gifts from Bath and Body Works on my dresser... also, there's quite a bit under the sink... but it's gross under there and not picture-worthy. So, I have a lot of body stuff. I know I have a problem. Sigh. But I can't help it. I get sooo many good deals there. So what new BBW stuff did I get this weekend? Here's the list:

1. Botanical Nutrients Wheat Germ Almond Hair Reconstructor
2. Botanical Nutrients Thyme & Wheat Protein Intensive Hair Repair
3. Botanical Nutrients Rose Hips & Aloe Shampoo (1 liter)
4. Botanical Nutrients Rose Hips & Aloe Conditioner (1 liter)
5. Botanical Nutrients Conditioning fixative
6. Real Essence Bartlett Pear Filled Candle
7. Real Essence Mango Mandarin Filled Candle
8. Real Essence Blooms! Filled Candle
9. Real Essence Raindrops Filled Candle

Also, a giftset and two other awesome things which I can't reveal b/c they're seeeeecrets
Check out how cute my new hair care is! And here's a picture of my candles too! Wheeeee!
I finally got a frame for the print Rolando got me of The Olive Trees... and I also hung the clock Rolando's brother and sister-in-law got me for Christmas... here's a picture of it all hung, looking purdy. If Rolando only knew that there are like 20 holes in the wall hidden by the picture... it took so long to get the nails just right... whoops.

The other new thing: there's a pond right outside my apartment... and there are sooo many canadian geese hanging out there... their new thing is to start HONKING loudly at like 1:00 a.m. Cute, huh? The other night Rolando woke up and said something about "going duck hunting tomorrow" lol... it was cute.

Crazy/Beautiful [Mar. 19th, 2004|12:25 am]
[mood | thirsty]

If you haven't seen the movie Crazy/Beautiful, see it. It's been my favorite movie for a long time... it reminds me of Rolando and me... <3<3<3<3... however there are a few differences between Kirsten Dunst's character and me:
1. I wash my hair
2. I wear a bra
3. I don't do drugs
But other than that... lol... anyway, it's the story of a crazy white girl and a dedicated, down to earth hispanic dude falling in love... Also, Jay Hernandez is adorable.

I fringed my mom's birthday stole yesterday... which was fun... hmm, what else is new?
I got a raise! Yeehaw!
Also, I'm going to resume working at Rolando's store every week which means 16 hours more work than usual... and 16 more hours of pay! every week! So... obviously, this means more yarn!!! I really want to make a fun scarf (I know, I need to broaden my horizons and knit other things, but this yarn has been looking at me funny... and I just have to make a scarf with it. I would pick Firecracker... it would be my "Animal" scarf... b/c it reminds me of Animal from the Muppets :0)
You know Clifford from the Muppets? I really want to knit his hair. If anyone knows where I can find some Clifford hair yarn, let me know! I'll love you forever!

Where the Hell Have I Been?!? [Mar. 13th, 2004|10:43 pm]
[mood | calm]
[music |Maroon 5 (who else??)]

Well, it's been a pretty busy few days... Here's a recap, hell, I'll recap the whole week.

Monday: Work.
Tuesday: Lots of Class, Study for Midterm :(
Wednesday: Work.
Thursday: Midterm, Lots of Class
Friday: Work, Dinner (Mmm... I had eggplant parmesan... it was delicious), Starsky and Hutch, Marshalltown
Saturday: Work at EL VAQUERO, Visit to family, Work at Bath and Body Works

So... more about today: I'm tired as hell. I worked from 8 to 2... then visited my family, dyed my hair red, drove back to Ames, then worked from 6-10. Now I'm here. Methinks a nice relaxing bubble bath and some major stole knitting is in order.

It was interesting working at my old job... El Vaquero is one of the hispanic grocery stores my boyfriend Rolando's family owns. I worked there for more than a year... when I got my job at B&BW I decided to quit... it was super stressful... having my (practically)parents-in-law as bosses was crazy. They're awesome people, it's just that sometimes they're difficult to work for (<--possibly an understatement...) Anyway, it wasn't too bad today... except when I left today I smelled like Mexican food... and vegetables.

It was sooo cute.... Rolando's 5 year old nephew was hanging out at the store... and some guy was asking something about the jicama... and Jordan was like... are those tomatoes??... what the hell! They look nothing like tomatoes. What a dork.

Knitting progress: I'm almost completely finished with the bottom of the french market bag base, about 1/7th of the way done with the stole...

My deadlines: French Market bag must be done by April 19th, Stole must be done by May 20th.

Alright... it's bath time. Leave me a message!

Diet Schmiet. [Mar. 10th, 2004|05:28 pm]
[mood | hungry]
[music |Aaliyah]

I tried the yarn diet, and that failed miserably... 7 skeins for the stole, and 3 skeins for frenchie, I've given up. If I can't succeed on a yarn diet, I'm going to try a real old-fasioned stop eating shit food diet. Hopefully this one will be a bit more successful. Any words of advice would surely help :0)

I remember! [Mar. 9th, 2004|04:52 pm]
[mood | confused]
[music |Maroon 5: Secret ... seeeeeeeecrets... hee hee.]

Surprisingly, I still remember the majority of what I was going to report on Saturday... Here goes.

I got my 1st letter from my secret knitting pal! I received it on Friday, and I was having a shitty day until I got my letter, it totally cheered me up! And there were stickers included too! Whee! I love me my stickers. Thanks secret pal!

I finished one of my mittens. It was digusting. I hate it. I'm not going to make the 2nd one... sigh. What a waste.

I started an offwhite eyelet stole (from one of the last 2 Vogue Knitting Mags) on Thursday, and I ruv it. Click here to peek at the lovely cream color I'm using... it's #262 (btw, this yarn is wonderful to knit with!!! Anyhow, this stole was going to be a birthday present for my best friend, however I changed my mind... now I'm going to give it to my mom instead... as previously mentioned, she and my father are going on yet another cruise, and I supposed she can use it during the cooler nights.

So what about Elisabeth? I decided she'd probably rather have the french market bag. I really think she'll love it... I'm using Lopi yarn... for the main color, a cute pink, and the contrasting color is purple... I'm so excited for this... if it turns out to be horrible like my mittens, I think I'll cry. I think this will be a fun project, it'll be my first felted object. Yay! Click here to see the colors I'm using! The main color is #2... and the contrast color is #152. Yay!

Well, next week is going to be 75 percent knitting. I was supposed to be working a lot next week, as it's SPRING BREAK! and am not going anywhere, :0( Still, a break from school is always appreciated. So... as I said, I was told there would be many, many hours for me to work next week as everyone but 3 of us Bath and Body Works girls are going on vacation.. but.. wtf! I got my schedule... and only 11 hours. Sigh, well, maybe I can finish the stole and the base of frenchie??? (crosses fingers)

an addition:

Guess what I found in my bathroom... a bunch of my CDs that went missing ages ago: including... Coldplay, Linkin Park, Pete Yorn, Incubus, Aaliyah, and 2 Red Hot Chili Pepper CDs. Yay! Keeping them company: a bag of Jelly Bellys from Valentines Day... I could use more nice surprises!

anyone willing to rip my stomach out?? [Mar. 6th, 2004|09:11 pm]
I ate sausage pizza for supper. It made me sick. This was the kind of stomach ache which only a fruit 'n yogurt parfait can fix... 2 of them, actually. What? They're smaller now! Anyway.... oh, blasted lid! Okay, I just dropped that oatmeal stuff all over the floor... okay, well, excuse me as I vacuum.

The plan was to post a nice lengthy message, because as usual, I have a lot to say. However, I just now decided to drive back to M-town to stay over with Rolando... so 45 minute drive, here I come... sigh... then work tomorrow (10:30-5). Maybe I'll remember some of the stuff I had to say... if you're lucky.

The Fart Jar [Mar. 2nd, 2004|09:49 pm]
[mood | enthralled]

I just remembered something very influential on my childhood: the fart jar. This was the coolest family tradition ever. A little background info: on my dad's side of the family, I have two boy cousins, Jonathan and Brandon, that are approximately my age. They are brothers, and have a little sister named Molly. So my grandma had this giant milk-jug thing... it went up about to my waist when I was 10. Jonathan, Brandon, and I would fart into the colossal milk-jug, then put the cork back in really quickly... then whenever Molly would annoy us, we'd hold her down and stick the un-corked fart jar in her face until she promised she'd leave us alone. How gross is this?? Also, a few years after we had outgrown this disgusting practice, we went back and smelled the fart jar... it still reeked. Good times, good times... if anyone knows where I can find a huge milk jug such as this, let me know, I ought to get one for when Rolando gives me trouble... :0)

I can't think of a catchy title... [Mar. 2nd, 2004|08:52 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Everquest music (duh, da, duh da DAAA...)]

Well, let's see... what's new since last I posted? Well... last weekend I saw 2 movies: 50 First Dates and Passion of the Christ. Here are my sentiments:

50 First Dates: This movie was just okay. Remind me to never ask anyone if a movie is good, because they will inevitably tell me it's awesome and I'll be inevitably be dissapointed. This has happened waaaay too many times to count. It was pretty funny, but something about it just didn't work. It also didn't help that the theatre was filled with 6th graders... one of whom kept screaming "OH MY GAWWWWD" everytime she found something funny... also, she laughed really loudly, quoted every "funny" phrase, and went "Uaoahohahaaaue" once. I'm not sure what it meant, but trust me, it was annoying.

Passion of the Christ: I confirmed it... this movie is graphic. Less than 1/2 way through the movie, Jesus was already so badly beaten you could barely tell he was a person. There was like no flesh left... and it was so brutal, I thought I was going to puke. My mom went with me and she was bawling. I know a lot of people liked it, but seriously, if I could have chosen whether I should go to it, knowing what I know now, I would have passed. Definitely.

Anyway, what else went down? I started and finished cell phone cosy (from Stitch 'n Bitch) #1, which was striped pink, green, and purple, and some funky eyelash yarn in corresponding colors. I like it, although I had some major problems getting the velcro to not rip right off. Anyhow, I'm onto #2, which is light blue, periwinkle, and navy, and no eyelash yarn. This one is going to be cuter, methinks. Also, my manager at Bath and Body Works commented that she really liked #1, and, of course, asked me to make her one... I think maybe I'll just make her let me teach her to knit. It's so much cooler knowing you made something... and she's really creative, also then maybe I'd have someone to knit with!!! :0) Also on the needles: a cute pink wash mitt thing... it's cotton... I like it so far... anyway, I'm going to get me some popcorn. Leave me a message!

TGIF! [Feb. 27th, 2004|12:34 pm]
[mood | nauseated]
[music |Heart: Crazy on You]

What a crazy day. I woke up late, and as soon as Rolando left I got REALLY sick. I swear there's a goblin living in my stomach. I guess I'm lucky b/c it wasn't like a painful stomach ache, however, I was running back and forth to the bathroom every 5 minutes... which makes for very little productivity. Because of said stomach issue, ms. amy was not able to go to work today... which is unfortunate, because even though I was only supposed to work for 3 hours, that's 3 hours more pay than I'm going to have now... sigh.

Some better news: I look REALLY cute today. I don't know why, just do. You'd think that under the circumstances, I'd look like shit, but no, of course the one day ever I look cute, I feel like shit.

Hoorah! Tonight I'm going to see the musical Oliver (based on my 3rd favorite musical ever, Oliver!) with my mom!!! I'm so excited!! Then I'm going back to M-town to do some relaxing! Hopefully it will be an awesome weekend!

In some knitting news, I finished my pretty purple scarf, and yes, I'm still working on getting a new battery so I can update some pictures! I also knitted a pretty pretty blue washcloth to give as a gift... it's the flying geese pattern... from the dishcloth boutique and I'm going to give to to Rosemary, the very sweet lady who taught me to knit, along with some bath and body works stuff! I hope she'll like it... :0) I love giving presents!

Speaking of giving presents: I signed up for the knitters secret pal program! I hope to get a fun knitter who I can send lots of presents to! :0) Anyway, y'all should sign up for this too! And soon! Yay!

What else? Oh, for my mom's shawl, I decided on some black Rowan Lurex Shimmer yarn! I think it'll be gorgeous! Whee!

Wow, I wrote way too much today. Please excuse my babblage. I'm out.
